2007 Detroit Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Show, was held January 13th to January 27th at the Cobo Center. Here is a look back at some of the highlights and coverage.

  • The Saturn Aura and Chevrolet Silverado win the Car and Truck of the Year titles (pictured on the right).
  • Watthead has a great roundup of coverage.
  • Yahoo's Buzz Log offered this search-laden summary. "This year's popular designs in Search include the Ford Interceptor, Acura's Advanced Sports Car concept, the revised (but still bitchin') Camaro concept car, and the Chrysler Imperial. Call them lane hogs, over-compensators, or show-stoppers -the concept car is indeed the once and future king of the road."
  • Ford's Airstream (see here and here) could blend in on the set of Tron. A video of the Airstream can be seen here.
  • Creative Gene attended the show and uploaded a bunch of photos. So did International Metropolis, PSFK and Dennis E. Lembree. Moco Loco also has a set on Flickr here.
  • Kicking Tires looks at Auto Show diversions including driving simulators and Michelin's Bibendum.
  • Behold the Holden Efijy.
  • Treehugger has a roundup of green cars seen at the show.
  • Attendance was down for the fourth straight year but the Detroit News AutoInsider blog says Detroit will remain the city for the top auto show.
  • The five coolest concept cars at the show.
  • The Wheels blog from the New York Times gives its hits and misses from this year's Detroit Auto Show.
  • The WSJ's Auto Show Tracker describes the Mercedes-Benz ice rink: "The most elaborate stand here in Detroit? That has to go to Mercedes-Benz, which has an S-Class sedan displayed on an ice rink measuring about 40 feet by 80 feet. Skaters were gliding around the car to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company's four-wheel drive technology."
